My First Court Case
Thursday, August 28, 2008  @   6:23 AM.
I think I was made of ONLY NERVES today...

OMG..I messed up big time for today's mock court trial...For the benefit of those who do not have the privelege of being my classmates, I'm currently taking a law paper. It requires us to present a court case being tried in court every week. Yes, we have everybody, the judges panel, barristers (note that, BARRISTERS not just mere lawyers) and members of the floor. Too bad that we don't have witnesses...It would be fun to see my nutter friends play-acting the role...(HOR...Xin Tang. I think you would be a good Betty).

Anyway, I was the main judge of a panel of three...(NO, we don't wear any wigs or long black robes). I didn't prepare my speech because I was trying to be neutral...If I prepared, I'll be even more biased than Jwu. I have to base my decision on how convincing the barristers were, right?

But I simply LOVE the questioning session. It felt awesome to be able to pinpoint questions at Zhi Weng and Evon (they were barristers for defendant, Paul who cheated on his wife - it's a long story), slowly driving them into a corner...Jwu and I came up with not the best but really good questions

but I didn't quite get the effect I wanted. DANG. That means I wasn't good enough...

That's why I haven't posted since Tuesday...I was busy discussing with Jwu and Chiu Thang (the other two judges) they were amazing partners...Chiu Thang, seeing you work so hard was inspirational. Jwu, you're twisted. *winks*

When Ms. Jeyanthi said, "If I put Wei Vern as judge, you will run for cover," that made my day! I was happy because that meant I did not bad as a first-time judge.

Next, I'll be barrister for defendant with Xin Tang. I'm not really looking forward to the next case...I haven't read the question thoroughly but it looks awfully LONG and COMPLICATED. How am I going to get my head round it, I don't know. What's more Jwu and Zhi Weng are BOTH on the floor...They'll be shooting questions left, right and centre...It'll be a war zone...

Sorry, no pics...too busy being nervous.
Until next time, ciao~vern

Aya was so STRONG, POSITIVE and KIND but her illness was without cure....No matter how much resistance she put up the illness still consumed her...Watching her struggled no matter the pain made me cry...How can someone who deserves so much to live is given only a short time to enjoy the beauties of life?

I couldn't stop the tears flowing...Her struggles were touching. Even when she finally found love, she had to give it up...she broken up with him to spare him the pain of losing her...That made me cry even more...Seriously every episode starting from the second made my tears trickling down everytime. It was a heart-wrenching story...

A must watch.

Tells you, We're only human. What will be will be.
But, we must always smile no matter how bleak.

Avril's concert back on the road!
Monday, August 25, 2008  @   8:06 AM.
There was a request for a write-up on Avril's-concert-cancellation, so here goes...
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia on Tuesday canceled a concert by Canadian rock singer Avril Lavigne, saying it may taint the Muslim-majority country's independence day celebrations after the Islamic opposition slammed her show as being "too sexy."...Kamarulzaman Mohamed, a party youth official, told The Associated Press on Monday that Lavigne's show was "considered too sexy for us" and would promote the wrong values just before independence day.
source: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iHEwkv0TqtCh5_clKFvCZjP5Ik_wD92LB8O00

"Too sexy"?! Many Malaysians out there can name more outrageous entertainers that can fill a list...Britney would be one, the Pussycat Dolls, Madonna...Avril is DECENT. Her music is punk rock, sure, but they're not heavy metal, or saucy sensual tunes...Compared to Britney's "I'm A Slave", Avril's songs are actually decent and honest depictions of teen angst. I don't believe there are any foul words. Loads of local artist sing about teen angst. Why is Avril any different? Avid Lavigne fans were simply worked up over the whole cancellation thing.

It's hardly a religious issue here.

Ponder this: Malaysian crime rates have been peaking without any help from foreigners...Immoral values have been around since the beginning of living memory. Don't believe? Check any holy scriptures...(respective of your religion) (Please keep in mind that they were written by PEOPLE eons ago) moral rules have been there since the start of civilisation...doesn't this acknowledge the existence of immorality? ...Immoral activities are PART of human nature. It's what that makes homo sapiens human.

And authorities are still baffled over why is it not dropping even after PENDIDIKAN MORAL was introduced.

But, if you feel you want to uphold absolute pure, sacred, priest-worthy values, then stay at home by all means. There are still many out there who have stronger will, rationale and self-control who can watch, enjoy the lively tunes with an open mind and still go home to bed sane.

Kuala Lumpur (dpa) - Malaysian authorities have reversed their decision to cancel a concert by Canadian pop-rock star Avril Lavigne, days after they ruled that her show was unsuitable for local youths, a senior official said Monday.

Probably the crowd of disappointed (I may have undermined the 'disappoinment'...they were probably outraged) fans had some effect.

It's a good thing the show's still on...

It's bad enough having to travel to neighbouring countries just to support your favourite star...

Goodbye, Beijing Olympics, Goodbye!
  @   6:35 AM.
Goodbye, Beijing Olympics 2008...:(

It was awesome...Although I didn't get to follow up with the heated competition, as I was isolated against my will outside civilisation, it still made my boring life livelier.

Both the opening and the closing ceremony was amazingly breathtaking...

(above) the human tower - 150 volunteers at the Beijing closing ceremony...It's even more awesome watching them moving like ripples on red silk or blooming like roses...

David Beckham kicked a football to the crowd of volunteers...They were EXCITED over the ball.
Leona Louis was there too...Her singing wasn't all that great. More humming than lyrics.
AND she looked FAT.

The most anticipated by-election of the year - Permatang Pauh...
People all over the country are curious to know the results - who would come out the victor? Anwar? Arif? Whose believes, principles and vision are most prospective? (Of course, what with the Anwar-Saiful fiasco - seriously their public argument was getting humiliatingly childish. Is there a need to swear in a holy place? Even British justice is always found in court with ONE rule - bring out the facts)

Let's wait for the news tomorrow...

Hi, I'm Wombat~~
Thursday, August 21, 2008  @   8:03 AM.
I think I have nutters for classmates (and friends)

They were giving each other silly nicknames.

Okay, maybe it’s only Natalie and Jwu Shyan. They’re taking their ‘partnership’ a bit too seriously.

* * *

Zhi Weng is “Pussy Loke”,

Xin Tang is “Si Fat”

Natalie is “Fucker Lim Fui Mon”

Rizwan is “Rabbit” (or “Ridiculous”. I don’t know. I lost track. I was distracted by my pork noodles.)

And I am “Wantan”. I was very happy with that. It’s a lot better than “Fucker” or “Pussy”

Then "Jwu the Jackass" just HAD to change it to “Wombat”.

This is me.

The fat, clumsy, boring wombat.

I look like a little bear but smaller.
I come out at night. I sleep during the day.
I live in a hole in the ground.
I like to eat grass and roots. But I LOVE CARROTS the best.
(My preferred bribe after $$$)

Want to know what I did today?

Morning: Slept and attended the Wombat Moot Court.

Afternoon: Slept, did Wombat Stats and hung out with asses and pussies

Evening: Ate grass.

Night: Scratched. Dang, I can’t reach. The itch is killing me.

The killer smile

When I was a baby. Ain't I cute?

Too bad I've grown rounder in the middle

Pilot Trainee Crash
Wednesday, August 20, 2008  @   9:24 PM.
This excerpt is from Berita Harian

Kapal terbang milik HM Aerospace disyaki terhempas

KUALA TERENGGANU: Sebuah pesawat jenis Diamond 40 Maha 443 dengan dua tempat duduk dari Pusat Latihan Penerbangan HM Aerospace Sdn Bhd (HMA) Langkawi, dipercayai terhempas di kawasan hutan di Bukit Bidong, selepas hilang daripada radar jam 5 petang semalam.

Jia is studying in HMA. The two trainee pilots were his seniors - one dead and one badly injured...Even Jia doesn't know the details or the cause because they were only aware of the news around 7 am this morning...

When he told me, all I could think of was "OMG, OMG."

I was shocked. They were only TRAINEES. All they wanted were to fly in the sky. They were only on routine practical training. Then suddenly, their hopes, dreams, joy were just snuffed out.
How would you feel?

This piloting business is really risky. Jia, please take care of youself, okay? No crashing planes in deep dense jungles. You're going to be my private jet pilot, remember?

You have already crashed with a motorcycle before. That's enough experience for a lifetime.

Congrats, A-Level Buddies!
Tuesday, August 19, 2008  @   11:11 PM.
Congrats to all my friends out there who took their A-levels this July - Grace, Ken, Loh, Kathir, Sunitha, Jin Tik, Ning Ning, Li Shin, Shari, Chin Yin and Yi Hao. I heard you guys did great. You have my heartfelt congratulations.

To those that I might have forgotten to mention, I'm very sorry. I'm doing this as they come into my head.

Congrats also to Susan! You were freaking awesome to win that World Prize for CAT!!!! I'm proud of you, girl! Keep it up! ACCA should be a breeze...

Keep up that spirit, guys!!! There's a bright future ahead of you!

***************************************************************************************

I just found out that so many of us Seafieldians are leaving Malaysia to further their studies...some already left :"(

UK - Ken, Shiue Nee, A, Grace, Sunitha
US - Jin Tik (California), Li Shin (Pittsburgh)
Aus - Yi Jien, Regina, Joyce, Jenny, Hui Wen (Melb)
Indonesia - Bay
Singapore - Yi Hao

I might not know some all that well, but I do feel that painful loneliness, knowing that everybody's leaving to different parts of the world. Chances of seeing each other again is very slim too.

When Ken leaves, that's when darkness would fall. After all, he was and will ever be our beloved 5E class monitor. He's the reason why we still have gatherings...I think everybody will agree with me on this point. :)

Birthday post
  @   6:08 AM.

Happy 20th birthday, Jwu Shyan!

You're 20 only once, so treasure it everyday!
* * *
I know this post is WAY late, but getting pictures are a major task for me..

Buying your present was a challenge...because I have no clue of what that you needed the most at the moment...I was frustrated for hours....

But when my sister pointed out the Andox toy, it just clicked!

1. Andox coin box is designed by Andy Lau
2. That particular toy is a replica of an autographed model
3. You simply LOVE Andy Lau. (You always sang his songs with heartfelt emotion. Don't ask me what songs that I heard, I wouldn't know. I just know that those are his songs. I remember melodies, NOT the title)
4. And it looks a lot like YOU!!!

Seeing you happy with the andox coin box, it made me very happy! *eyes shining with tears of happiness*

But the coin box is to help you nurture the virtue of saving...I know that you're rich, but it's always better to start now than later or maybe your case, never.

*************************************************************************************

Woke this morning with tears streaming down my face. It was really wet. I have no clue what I dreamed last night except I could still feel very heartbroken as if someone important just left me...THAT made me cry some more for no reason...but I stopped myself before my eyes become swollen. How could I go to class like that?

*************************************************************************************

I finally got my mosquito coils! Now I can terminate all those blood-sucking fiends in my room. MUAHAHAHA.

Never Ignore Your Mother's Nagging
Friday, August 15, 2008  @   5:36 AM.
I really learned my lesson today...

My mother has always nagged at me to be careful while crossing the highway when I'm on my way home every Friday. She always said that Malaysian drivers are an inconsiderate bunch of moronish oafs. They have no regard for pedestrians...so I have to be careful when I cross the road.

ESPECIALLY at the bend at a cross junction.

It happened this afternoon. I just got off from the INTI bus after lecture.
I saw the truck that was very far away. It WAS very very far.
I knew that I can make it in time if I just ran the 2 meters to safety...but I just HAD to fall down.

Thank God that I managed to stop myself from hitting my face and my laptop. Yeah my first thought was,"Save Laptop!!!!!"
Luckily I scrambled over the other side of the road before the truck passed by...PHEW!!

I was terrified to death.

Hell, the wounds STING!!! At first, I thought there would only be some skin scraped off...
So, I remained sprawled at the side of the road for a minute more or so...I didn't move until this Chinese guy got off from a bus to ask me if I needed to see a doctor. Now that's a kind soul!

It was then it registered to my numb brain..."Bloody hell! There's blood!"

Yeah, my right hand has a lot of the skin scraped off and flesh cut, my right arm was scratched from the upper arm to just below the elbow, bruises on my right side, right thigh, left calf, right knee, left thigh and some deep lacerations on my right knee.

Do you know what I was worried then? "Shoot, my favourite pants is torn"

When I safely crossed the highway and already near the bus stop opposite Summit, I was thinking, "I have to borrow somebody's washroom...Mum's gonna freak out with all this blood flowing".

IT STINGS

I even wonder at myself...how did I walk all the way home from Summit? It was a painful 40-minute walk...

Those are the wounds after I cleaned them...they don't look too bad right...?

But, HELL! They HURT! Took me over an hour to get all the blood off.
They loook a lot worse up close. Now they look REALLY worse because it's surrounded in purple.
Now, my only concern is how am I going to get anything done with only one hand? What's more it's my LEFT hand and I'm right-handed. This is annoying.

Trust me guys, if your mum ever nags you - LISTEN.

AND

REMEMBER.

mosquito infestation
Thursday, August 14, 2008  @   4:45 PM.

The internet connection in the hostel is so bad that I've been out of touch from the digital world for so long...not that it's killing me. I have LOADS of homework that helps kill LOTS of time. LOL.

Okay, Ken I'm blogging now.

Right now, I'm really annoyed. I'm being attacked by mostquitoes. Yes, those annoying, buzzing, poisonous, blood-sucking fiends. I seem to be some sort of delicacy, it seems. They're attacking me especially rather than my roommate. I've got the sore red marks all over my legs to prove it. Bruises are starting to appear too and I have no idea where those come from. Most of them are next to those mosquitoe bites, maybe the pests here are freaking strong.

****************************************************************************

Okay, I understand these guys need food for survival. So why can't they just get drunk on one HUGE meal and leave me alone? Rather than playing "touch and sip" with me. Leaving me with extreme ITCHES...*ARRGH*Trying my best not to scratch*~maybe I should mark "X" on one spot of my leg to show "please land and feed here"...at least the itch will only be in one spot rather than in one million other places~

I've tried almost everything - repellants, those repellants you plug into sockets whatever they're called, cleaned room again and again, use myself as bait while my roommate squishes them. But they keep coming...uuurrrgghh......

'De-mosquitoing' can be Very Tiring...

Four frights in 2 days
Wednesday, August 6, 2008  @   6:22 AM.
I was frightened FOUR times.

There's a limit to how much a human heart can take.

1. Xin Tang screamed when a cat's tail brushed her leg at dinner. She made everybody else jumped out of their skin.

2. Xin Tang screamed again because of the same cat. Louder this time. My heart practically jumped out of my chest. (I pity Zhi Weng though, he got the full impact of her scream. Remind me to never sit beside her during dinner.)

3. Accidentally stepped on somebody's ragged boxers when I got out from the car. Gave me quite the shock. I thought it was some kind of fluttery six-legged monster. (Don't ask me why there's a pair of boxers on the road)

4. There was a HUGE moth in my room. After spreading its wings, it's almost as big as my hand. I may be exaggerating a little bit because I was really frightened. I don't have a camera to take a picture of it, but i found one on the net which is close enough to the one I saw
The body wasn't THAT big but the wings were. I was too frightened to do anything except waving the broom at it.

Fortunately for me, it flew into the fan and split into half.

The next day, I gave my fan a wipe for saving me from the furry winged demon.

I LOVE my fan.
