Avril's concert back on the road!
Monday, August 25, 2008  @   8:06 AM.
There was a request for a write-up on Avril's-concert-cancellation, so here goes...
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia on Tuesday canceled a concert by Canadian rock singer Avril Lavigne, saying it may taint the Muslim-majority country's independence day celebrations after the Islamic opposition slammed her show as being "too sexy."...Kamarulzaman Mohamed, a party youth official, told The Associated Press on Monday that Lavigne's show was "considered too sexy for us" and would promote the wrong values just before independence day.

"Too sexy"?! Many Malaysians out there can name more outrageous entertainers that can fill a list...Britney would be one, the Pussycat Dolls, Madonna...Avril is DECENT. Her music is punk rock, sure, but they're not heavy metal, or saucy sensual tunes...Compared to Britney's "I'm A Slave", Avril's songs are actually decent and honest depictions of teen angst. I don't believe there are any foul words. Loads of local artist sing about teen angst. Why is Avril any different? Avid Lavigne fans were simply worked up over the whole cancellation thing.

It's hardly a religious issue here.

Ponder this: Malaysian crime rates have been peaking without any help from foreigners...Immoral values have been around since the beginning of living memory. Don't believe? Check any holy scriptures...(respective of your religion) (Please keep in mind that they were written by PEOPLE eons ago) moral rules have been there since the start of civilisation...doesn't this acknowledge the existence of immorality? ...Immoral activities are PART of human nature. It's what that makes homo sapiens human.

And authorities are still baffled over why is it not dropping even after PENDIDIKAN MORAL was introduced.

But, if you feel you want to uphold absolute pure, sacred, priest-worthy values, then stay at home by all means. There are still many out there who have stronger will, rationale and self-control who can watch, enjoy the lively tunes with an open mind and still go home to bed sane.

Kuala Lumpur (dpa) - Malaysian authorities have reversed their decision to cancel a concert by Canadian pop-rock star Avril Lavigne, days after they ruled that her show was unsuitable for local youths, a senior official said Monday.

Probably the crowd of disappointed (I may have undermined the 'disappoinment'...they were probably outraged) fans had some effect.

It's a good thing the show's still on...

It's bad enough having to travel to neighbouring countries just to support your favourite star...
